RESONANCE ENGINE

A live performance that blends music, storytelling, and audience participation into a singular, co‑authored work — led by Emmy‑nominated composer Sam Kaufmann

What is Resonance Engine?

Resonance Engine is a retrospective program spanning more than thirty years of work in film and television. Framed by stories from the studio and the scoring stage, the evening connects cues and creative process—how pieces are shaped, where blocks become breakthroughs, and why constraints often spark invention.

The performance also shifts the role of the audience from listeners to collaborators. Guided by Sam, the room itself becomes an instrument, culminating in a one‑time‑only piece built in real time with everyone present.

    • Format: Performance + storytelling + participatory composition

    • Credits include: HBO, Disney, Netflix

Resonance Engine is an immersive performance that blurs the line between concert and art installation. Emmy-nominated composer and guitarist Sam Kaufmann brings music from his award-winning film/TV work and standalone compositions into dialogue with the audience. The performance unfolds as a living artwork: part concert, part spontaneous creation.

Audience Participation

The heart of Resonance Engine is a guided, collaborative composition. Audience members contribute sound, feel, and form using approachable instruments and actions. No musical experience required.

    • The Feedback Drum – A responsive sonic sculpture that reacts to swinging microphones, shaping evolving textures.

    • Theremin – Participants draw melody from the air, learning gesture‑to‑tone connection in real time.

    • Bass Pedals & Rhythm – Foot‑triggered tones underpin the groove while clapping patterns bloom into layered polyrhythms.

Together, the room becomes an ensemble, and the hall transforms into a living engine of sound.
